TRAINING STRUCTURE
Moelwyn Gym Club is divided into three sections, beginners, intermediate
and elite. The club usually does not take members under the age
of six, and most new gymnasts will be admitted to the beginners
squad. Gymnasts are not allowed to compete until the year they are
eight years old. ( The competition year runs from 1 st January to
31 st December. )
After an initial period of 4 weeks, gymnasts will be required to
pay £12.50 as membership of British Gymnastics. This insures
the gymnast while training, and is essential for ALL members of
the club. The BGA membership runs from 1st October until 30th September.
Gymnasts who compete in Wales also have to pay an additional membership
to the Welsh Amateur Gymnastics Association (membership year 1 st
January until 31 st December). None of the money for these fees
goes towards gym club funds.
New members may train in shorts and T-shirt, but will be expected
to buy a leotard if they decide to stay in the club. Leotards are
available through the gym club. No watches or jewellery should be
worn during training, and hair must be tied back for the gymnasts
safety. Members are expected to turn up on time and ready to train,
and it is advisable for them to bring a still drink. A gymnast who
is absent from training for three consecutive sessions, without
prior notice, will be deemed to have left the club
Gymnasts will be moved to a different squad purely at the coaches
discretion. Attitude, application, attendance and talent will all
be taken into consideration before any decision is made to move
gymnasts from one squad to another.
